Catholic Couples Gather for Faith-Filled Date Night at Armagh City Hotel

Saturday 18th April 2026

Apr 2026

Couples from across Ireland gathered recently at the Armagh City Hotel for a Catholic Couples’ Date Night, an evening dedicated to faith, marriage, and shared joy.

The event offered married couples a chance to step away from the busyness of everyday life and enjoy an uplifting night together in a warm and welcoming setting. The programme included moments of reflection, prayer, conversation, and light-hearted fun, all centred on strengthening marriage through faith.

Attendees spoke very positively about the experience. One couple described the evening as “a wonderful opportunity to pause, reconnect, and remember why faith is so central to our marriage.” Another shared that “it was refreshing to have a night out that was both fun and deeply meaningful — we laughed a lot and left feeling encouraged.”

A further attendee commented on the atmosphere of the night, saying, “There was such a sense of warmth and community in the room. It was great to meet other couples who share the same values and challenges.”

Archbishop Eamon Martin, who attended the evening, welcomed the initiative and the strong turnout. He said that it was “encouraging to see so many married couples choosing to invest in their relationship and their faith together,” and noted the importance of creating spaces where couples can be supported and affirmed in their vocation to marriage.

Organisers described the event as a great success and expressed gratitude for the enthusiastic response. “We were truly blessed by the turnout and the engagement of the couples who attended,” Sinéad Strong said. “We hope everyone enjoyed the night as much as we did.”

The Date Night was organised collaboratively by Catholic Mothers Ireland, Family Solidarity, Marriage Encounter Ireland and Teams of Our Lady working together to support and promote marriage and family life.

Building on the success of the evening, organisers have confirmed that planning is already underway for next year’s Catholic Couples’ Date Night. Couples will also be informed about other similar evening events to be held around the country in the coming months.

Organisers noted that the strong attendance and positive feedback reflect a growing desire among couples to invest intentionally in their marriages and faith communities.

Further details and updates will be shared through the organising groups’ channels.

Munster Retreat Day

St Saviour’s Church, Limerick

What a truly blessed day at our first Retreat Day of 2026!
We were graced with the presence of Sr. Krista Marie, OP, who opened the morning with a beautiful and deeply moving reflection on “The Heart of the Mother.” During a sacred time of Adoration, Fr. Columba Jordan, CFR offered the Sacrament of Confession, and later concelebrated Mass in the Chapel with Monsignor O’Malley—an experience that touched many hearts.

After a joyful lunch and time of fellowship, we welcomed Breda O’Brien—prominent Catholic writer, educator, and commentator—who offered a powerful and hope-filled talk titled “God Is in Charge?” The afternoon continued with an engaging panel discussion featuring Breda and Sr. Krista, giving space for rich conversation, honest questions, and shared wisdom.

For the 30 women who attended, the day proved to be something truly special. Many spoke of the peace they encountered, the sense of sisterhood that formed so naturally, and the grace of stepping away from daily responsibilities to rest in God’s presence. It was a day filled with encouragement, renewal, and a tangible experience of God’s gentle care.

We are deeply grateful for every woman who joined us—and we look forward with joy to all that God has in store for the months ahead.

Meeting Bishop Leahy

Friday 13th March, Limerick

Mar 2026

We were delighted to meet with Bishop Brendan Leahy to share the mission and growing work of Catholic Mothers Ireland.
Our conversation was warm, encouraging, and filled with genuine interest as we spoke about our community of mothers, our retreats, and the support we offer women in living out their Catholic faith. We are deeply grateful for Bishop Leahy’s openness, his pastoral kindness, and his wholehearted support for our work. His affirmation means so much as we continue strengthening and uplifting Catholic mothers across Ireland.

Novena of Hope of Our Lady of Lourdes

Feb 2026

What a truly blessed evening at the Novena of Hope to Our Lady of Lourdes in the Parish of Duneane.

It was a privilege to share a message on hope in the family.

May Our Lady of Lourdes hold every family in her tender care and intercede for each one with her loving grace.

Some of our Catholic Mothers Ireland members are currently taking part in the Certificate in Catechesis with the Dominican Sisters of St Joseph. They attended an in‑person study day at St Catherine of Siena Monastery today, led by Sr Carino and Sr Hyacinthe, who have been visiting Ireland this week.

This inspiring two‑year course helps participants grow in confidence and passion as they share the Catholic faith, rooted firmly in the Church’s tradition and the authentic sources of Catechesis.

If you’re interested in Catechesis or simply want to deepen your understanding of the faith, I’d highly recommend checking it out.

The next course begins in September.

All the details are below.
